Gallery Christoffer Egelund is very proud to present Rasmus Rosengaard’s one-man show, Dvale. Rosengaard was born in 1979 and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. Since then he has been working consistently in both his paintings and his drawings with the colour black. Externally, through the materiality of the work, he thus examines the limits and the possibilities of the use of monochrome, while he, at a deeper level, carries out a thematic exploration of the dark sides of the human mind.

Rasmus Rosengaard’s new paintings and drawings all appear melancholy and possess an exceptional meditative quality. There is scope for immersion. In his monochrome painting oil is mixed with sawdust, contributing to the creation of an intriguing depth of space that constantly breaks and reshapes the uniform colour surface. The drawings are done in charcoal and the interplay with the naked canvas gives rise to amorphous figurations taking ever new shapes depending on the eye of the spectator. This is the way in which Rasmus Rosengaard creates an uncompromisingly sensuous sanctuary for individual experience. A space of the mind, which at one level reaches into the psyche representing its sombre and dark parts, but at the same time acknowledges its fundamentally poetic and aesthetic nature.

Rasmus Rosengaard has exhibited widely both national and international and is represented in, among other places, the permanent art collection of the ARKEN Museum of Modern Art.

Galleri Christoffer Egelund præsenterer med stor glæde Rasmus Rosengaards separatudstilling, Dvale. Rosengaard (f. 1979) blev færdiguddannet fra Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi i 2007 og har siden arbejdet konsekvent med farven sort i sine malerier og tegninger. Herigennem undersøger han i ydre instans, via værkets materialitet, grænserne og mulighederne i det monokrome, mens han i de dybere lag tematisk beskæftiger sig med det menneskelige sinds mørke sider.

Rasmus Rosengaards nye malerier og tegninger står alle tungsindige hen og har stor meditativ kvalitet. Der gives plads til fordybelse. I hans monokrome malerier blandes oliemalingen med savsmuld, hvilket er med til at skabe en dragende rumlig dybde, der konstant bryder og omformer den ensartede farveflade. Tegningerne kreeres med kul, hvor samspillet med det blottede lærred frembringer amorfe figurationer, der former og omformer sig alt afhængigt af det betragtende subjekt. Således skaber Rasmus Rosengaard et kompromisløst sanseligt frirum for den personlige oplevelse. Et mentalt rum, der på ét plan rækker ind i psyken og repræsenterer dens dystre og mørke sider, men som i samme moment ikke kan undsige sig dets poetiske og æstetiske væsen.

Rasmus Rosengaard har været udstillet bredt i både ind- og udland og er bl.a. repræsenteret i Arken’s permanente kunstsamling.

Galleri Christoffer Egelund inviterer til fernisering på Rasmus Rosengaards udstilling, Dvale, fredag den 7. november, kl. 16-20. Udstillingen vises efterfølgende i perioden 8. november – 6. december. Åbningstider: mandag-fredag kl. 11-18, lørdag kl. 11-15.
