Description
Galleri Christoffer Egelund is proud to present the American artist Jason Jägel’s big solo exhibition, Fate In A Pleasant Mood. It is his first solo exhibition ever in Denmark. Jason Jägel (b. 1971) graduated as ‘MFA, Master of Fine Arts’ from the recognized Stanford University in California, USA. With his poetic approach to art, he has created his very own unique idiom, dealing with such themes as social corruption, sex, life, death and love.
When he works, Jason Jägel lets his associative and impulsive flow of thoughts steer the development of his works. They revolve around feelings, perceptions and story-telling. Jägel displays an impressive sense of rhythm in his compositions, as well as a gift for surprising and effectual color combinations. His works often appear as fragmented stories, zooming into and out of situations, with no evident beginning, middle or end. Hence, it is up to the spectator to decode or perceive his works, to find a route and to try to interpret the often ambiguous signs and signals, in order to create coherence.
With his exhibition Fate In A Pleasant Mood, Jägel introduces the visitor to new and interesting works presented as gouache or graphite on paper. The installation of the works will interact with unique wall paintings, creating an explicit dialogue between the works and the exhibition room.
Jason Jägel has exhibited widely, both in the US and internationally; he is represented at MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and at Portland Museum of Art, just to name a few.
